Set up your masjid

From sign-up to a live screen and a public page in about ten minutes — donations unlock once your masjid is verified.

1. Start the wizard

Go to wemasjid.com/start and work through the seven steps. Everything you enter can be changed later from the dashboard.

  1. Your masjid — name, address and postcode. We look up the location for prayer-time calculation.
  2. Prayer times — calculated from your location (you can import your existing timetable spreadsheet afterwards, under Prayer times).
  3. Charity — whether you're a registered or excepted charity, which enables Gift Aid.
  4. Facilities — wudu, women's prayer space, parking and the rest, shown on your public page.
  5. Screens — create your first screen and get its 6-character pairing code.
  6. Verify — upload one committee document (see below). Needed to lift the unverified limits and switch on donations.
  7. Review — check it all and finish. You land in your dashboard.

2. Connect a screen

Three ways to put a TV on: a Raspberry Pi boots to a PIN you enter under Screens → Link a device; a smart TV or Fire Stick shows a pairing code you confirm in the dashboard; or just open wemasjid.com/display in any browser and type the 6-character code. See Connect a screen — the Screens page then shows a live thumbnail of each TV.

3. Verification — why we ask

A new masjid starts on a 3-month Pro trial; unverified masajid are limited to 1 screen and 5 slides and can't take donations until verified. To protect masajid from impersonation we check that you're on the committee before lifting it. Upload one of:

  • a utility bill in the masjid's name,
  • a Charity Commission or HMRC letter,
  • committee minutes or a letter on masjid letterhead,
  • a bank letter in the masjid's name, or
  • photo ID of a committee member plus masjid letterhead.

PDF, JPG or PNG up to 10 MB, from the wizard or later in Settings → Verification — or email them to support@wemasjid.com from the masjid's own address. We review every submission by hand and email you the outcome — usually within a working day.

You don't have to wait to try it: your first screen and public page work straight away. Verification lifts the limits (1 screen, 5 slides) and lets you connect Stripe.

4. Switch on giving

Once verified, open Giving and connect Stripe — the masjid's own account, so donations never pass through ours. Then share a fund's QR poster or embed the giving widget on your website. See Giving.

Running a card terminal? Add it under Terminals, then set everyone's 4–6 digit PIN under People → Terminal PINs — volunteers tap theirs on the device to start a session. See Terminal.

Changing your masjid's name or address

Only a WeMasjid Super Admin can change a masjid's name, address or postcode — it protects against impersonation. Edit them under Settings and save: it becomes a change request (“Awaiting Super Admin approval”), we're notified, and nothing changes until it's approved. You're emailed either way.
