The congregant app

WeMasjid is a real phone app for congregants — prayer times and reminders, jamaat, announcements, qibla and giving from your masjid, in your masjid's colours.

How people get it

The app is distributed through Google Play and the App Store — the links appear on the install sheet and the Get the app landing page (wemasjid.com/app/your-slug) once the store listings are published. Until then Android users can sideload the release APK; the landing page works today for the QR scan.

  1. A congregant scans the App QR — on the TV slide, the Widgets card or the printed poster — which opens wemasjid.com/app/your-slug, or they search for their masjid in the app.
  2. Inside the app they tap scan the masjid's QR or search by name or postcode and pick it from the results.
  3. Done — the app opens straight to today's times in your masjid's colours.

Anyone who opens your public page (/m/your-slug) on their phone also sees an install sheet — the same URL works as a deep link, so a shared link or QR lands them on your masjid inside the app.

First run & your masjid

On first open the app asks you to find your masjid — scan its QR or type the name or postcode. Every masjid you pick is saved to a saved masajid list; the header menu switches between them, and push registrations move with the switch (the old masjid's announcements are unsubscribed automatically).

The five tabs

  • Today — the next prayer hero with a live countdown (“Dhuhr jamaat in 42m”, “Jamaat now”), each prayer's begins and jamaat times, and your announcements on top.
  • Timetable — a date strip across the top; pick a day to see its begins/jamaat table (Friday shows Jumu'ah), plus Jumu'ah and Ramadan cards and a link to the printable monthly timetable.
  • Qibla — a live compass against true north that glows green when you're aligned, with a satellite-map view to aim visually; a banner nags when the phone's compass needs calibrating.
  • Give — appeals (funds with targets) first, then the other funds; tapping one opens the masjid's giving page where the donor pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay — the app never touches card data.
  • More — reminders, announcements history, saved masajid, privacy and about.

Announcements

Masjid announcements sit in a strip on the Today tab — a red dot marks unread ones. Tap a card to collapse it to a thin row (or swipe it sideways); collapsed announcements stay collapsed next time. The header bell opens the notifications sheet: every announcement and reminder the phone has seen, for each saved masjid, with mark-all-read and clear. Turning on Masjid announcements under More also registers the phone for masjid push announcements — so new notices ping even when the app is closed.

Prayer reminders

Under More → Prayer reminders each prayer gets its own switch: notify at begins or a chosen number of minutes before jamaat. Reminders are scheduled entirely on the phone from the cached timetable — no server, no sound (they arrive on the “Prayer reminders” channel silently, so they don't disturb the masjid) — and they keep firing offline. They re-schedule automatically whenever the app refreshes your masjid's data.

Offline

The app caches your masjid's whole bundle — timetable, announcements, funds — the last time it loaded. With no signal it opens on the last-seen times and keeps working; reminders still fire and the app quietly refreshes when it's back online.

The web install route still works too: adding /m/your-slug to the home screen gives congregants without the app your public page full-screen and offline-capable. The install sheet shows native store badges automatically once the listings are live.
